BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU (BJJ)

GREAT FOR CARDIO & SELF DEFENCE

A martial art, combat sport, and a self defence system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using leverage and proper technique, taking the fight to the ground – most notably by applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat the other person. BJJ training can be used for sport grappling tournaments and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition or self-defence.

Pilates is all about the ab's. If you are suffering from lower back pain you NEED Pilates in your life as your ab;s support your lower spine. Most of our recommendations for Pilates come from Doctors because they know it works.

KIDS FITNESS

Every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday here at The Resistance in High Barnet we turn your little monsters into BEASTS. We offer Muay Thai Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, shadow boxing and bodyweight resistance classes. Classes are open to children from the age of 5.

HIIT / STRENGTH & CONDITIONING

TONE, BUILD MUSCLE & BURN FAT!

A rigorous training session which will have you lifting kettlebells, doing high intensity interval cardio (HIIT), movement based strength work and more! All these stacked in a way that will have you fitter and stronger than ever before... No two classes are the same, so the training never gets repetitive and keeps your body guessing!

MUAY THAI KICK BOXING

GREAT FOR A COMPLETE BODY WORKOUT

A martial art from Thailand which uses stand-up striking and clinching techniques. It makes prominent use of punches, kicks, elbow strikes, and knee strikes, using eight points of contact, in contrast to the hands and feet (four contact points) more often relied upon in other martial arts. Numerous techniques associated with Muay Thai can be found in MMA.

YOGA

IMPROVE FLEXIBILITY & RANGE OF MOVEMENT

Yoga is great to loosen tight hamstrings and open up areas of the body that we tighten up in through day to day life. If you are also into BJJ it allows you to stay calm in uncomfortable positions and is an all round challenging discipline.
